枫下茶话 / 美国话题 / 申请H1b,收到律师信，是什么意思？Does he want to file for a Change of Status (COS) from TN to H1 by staying in US until his H1 is approved or does he want it filed as notification to US Port of Entry so that he obtains H1 status only by showing his H1 at the POE? Please confirm. If he files a COS petition then he should not travel outside US while his application is pending.

看来有两种方式：一种是申请在美国国内改status，就是pending，4到10月不能出境，另一种只是notification，status还是TN，只有10月后出入境才改成H1

说错了，如果COS，不要出境的期间应该是从4月到approved，估计5月到6、7月都有可能

这个链接说的挺清楚，不管COS还是Consular Notification，你都要最后做stamping，除非你几年不出境。如果不想旅游或者探亲期间急火火的去签的话，还得单独跑一趟搞stamping.

目前看Consular Notification没什么不好的，除非你TN Status expires around October, then you'd better stay in US until COS ends
