No any risk for L1B. L1B and H1B are basically the same. Except L1B has a 5 year limit and H1B has a 6 year limit. But with L1B, you are all set for green card application. -singapura(江枫漁火); 2016-2-19 (#9952755@0)

Don't start your green card process so late. Press your employer to start as soon as you settle down. I am speaking for myself. As soon as I was settled with L1,I immediately pushed the HR to start my green card process one month after and I didn't let the process slow down, and I got the green card very quick more than a year ago. -singapura(江枫漁火); 2016-2-19 {172} (#9952775@0)

Yes,I was a little privileged. But even for L1B and EB2, just start Labor Certificate process (which takes about 6 months for the employer and labor department) and I-140 (can be expedited and done in 2 weeks), and then wait out about 2.5 years to submit I-485 (adjust of status) along with EAD application. For L1A,the amount of supporting documents is staggering and there is no expedited processing as the examination of qualification by the immigration department is more rigorous, it took 5 months to get my I-140. I-485 was filed a month later and it took another 5 months to receive approval for green card. Roughly speaking it takes about a year for L1A. -singapura(江枫漁火); 2016-2-19 {347} (#9952817@0)

As long as you have been approved for immigrant worker petition (I-140),you just need to wait about 2.5 years (according to currently visa bulletin) to submit your application for adjust of status (also called application for green card). Once the application is in, if it's pending more than 6 months, you are eligible to switch jobs in the same field (AC-21 rule), you will also receive Employment Authorization Document card (EAD card need to renew every year). Just to remind you that you don't have to wait to start the green card process.Some people thought they had to work for the employer for a couple years before they request for green card sponsorship. But green card process and temporary employment are separate. Green card sponsorship is based on future permanent employment intention. As long as the employer provides that intention, you can start the process right away.
