transferwise for small amount. if large amount ( over 30k ), still can use transferwise ( good exchange rate, but transfer fee will increase). there is cheaper way, but too much steps.

so there is another way: open IB account, link both CAD/USD account, convert in IB, transfer out to USD, then wire transfer large amount to US account, cheapest and complex .

Td and bmo both offer free wire transfer to and from US, you need to open accounts on both sides. Then transfer from TD us bank to US brokerage, usually free

however, the key is how you can convert CAD to USD in cheapest way , use bank, at least 2 cents compare with the exchange rate, if need change 50k, that's 1000 bucks lost. 1000 vs. 30, no comments.

为什么会有judge呢?给出的答案不合用不用就是了,不是么?难道问问题的还兼职考智商么?另外,只看到现在需求而看不到将来不同需求的, not sure what's your definition of "the big picture"?
