The club rents the swimming pool of the centennial recreational center every Saturday and Sunday from 6-7pm.On feb 15,2003, at about 5 minutes to 7pm the kids in olivia’s group lined up by the ladders to practice diving. There are 2 ladders in this pool, one is one meter high and the other is 3 meters high. when olivia climbed up to about the sixth stair, she fell down from the ladder to the ground. She got hurt and bleeded a lot in her month. Her forehead, lips, teeth, leg, ankle and feet either bleeded, turned bruised or swollen. When she fell down, her coach was about 10 meters away from her. She is the person who should be responsible for the kids’ safety. Because the stairs of the ladder are very slippery and steep, the coach should stand near the ladder in case the kids may fall down and get hurt. But she didn’t. After Olivia fell down, she cried so badly. I took her to the office, the employee of the swimming pool gave my daughter first aid treatment and filled in an injury report. The lady also told me that it is absolutely unallowable for the kids at my daughter’s age to climb up the 3-meter diving ladder. But no coach (all together 5 coaches) stopped Olivia before she fell down. The head coach told me that she doesn’t even know the rule and what she could say to me was nothing except saying sorry. How could those coaches be competent for their position? My daughter is only 4 and half years old, she should be under reasonable supervision during her time in the pool. In her case, the neighborhood development swim club is 100% responsible for this accident.

After we got back home, Jason, the person who is in charge of this program called me. What he told me was Olivia could leave this program with the full refund.
